"Introductions[04]"

This summer, Atlanta Gallery Association presents "Introductions[04]," a three-day citywide art event featuring a panel discussion on collecting, preview showings with artists' talks, citywide gallery openings and a special nightclub party.

Wednesday, July 14 - "Collectors on Collecting: A Panel Discussion" held in collaboration with Atlanta College of Art at the Woodruff Arts Center's Rich Auditorium at 7 p.m. The Atlanta College of Art Gallery will also be open that evening so that guests can see the photography exhibition "Burkina Reflected" by artist Patricia Blanchet, which is presented in cooperation with the 2004 National Black Arts Festival.

Drs. Leslee Shaw and Meredith Bell, collectors

Thursday, July 15 - Previews and Artists' Talks for Collectors and anyone interested in collecting art at selected AGA galleries.

Participating AGA Galleries
  • Thomas Deans & Company, Fine Art will host a private view of "Summer Pleasures." British-born Atlanta photographer Kevin Saunders will be present to discuss his work. 6:30 to 9 p.m.
  • Skot Foreman Fine Art presents a collector and press preview of "Peter Max: A Retrospective" from noon to 9 p.m.
  • Fay Gold Gallery will show "The Saatchi 100," a fast-paced, fascinating film featuring 100 art works from the renowned, sensuous, contemporary collection of British Collector Charles Saatchi accompanied by the reflections and anecdotes by the artists Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Jenny Saville, Gary Hume and Ron Mueck from 7 to 8 p.m.
  • The Lowe Gallery The Lowe Gallery presents an exhibition featuring celebrated glass artist Dale Chihuly and paintings and drawings by Steve Seinberg.
  • Galerie Timothy Tew will feature a special preview of the show featuring emerging artists Mateo Arguello Pitt and Jennifer Cawley along with Anthony Ardavin from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Vinson Gallery presents a preview showing of works by painters Jamee Linton and Jennifer Quigley from 6 to 8 p.m.

Friday, July 16 - AGA Member Galleries Openings across Atlanta will be hosted from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The AGA Exclusive After-Party at Cosmopolitan and Lava in Midtown will follow the openings. There is no cover charge for the party, which begins at 9 p.m.
